For this project our customer asked us to alter one of our asset tracker designs to be used in a hazardous area. We redesigned our power supply and added barrier circuitry to our LTE-M based trackers to reduce energy to a level too low to cause ignition. This design can be used in applications such as monitoring fuel tanks, and hazardous warehouse storage. We deployed our LTE-based asset trackers during the busy farming season and tracked assets across the Midwest. Our system design included additional intrinsically protected I/O’s for interfacing to existing sensors, like Rochester Ready fuel gauges. This way a single SKU can be used to support tracking, measuring, and sensing needs. These devices operated through indoor and outdoor environments and allowed our customer to prevent loss of expensive equipment.
